Kids-at-Risk Boat-building

We featured all the components of our kids-at-risk boat building program Boats 4 Folks, which enables 4 kids build a 12' boat in 2 days. After they build it, its launched and they then get and row it. What is new this year is that they will then have an opportunity to try out sailing in our recently-restored Lightning named "Bolt", following which they will get a chance to have a go in the 4 Minimax Sea Fleas we will be building between now and spring.

Skiff Raffle Fundraising

Last year, you assisted us by buying raffle tickets for either a skiff or sea flea. The first draw sold out by Friday of the show - the winner was Paul Gagne of Brampton who has been cycling past our boat-shop for years!  Fortunately we had the next set of 300 tickets ready and started a new raffle on Saturday just to carry on - so thank you very much for your support. Tickets will be available at the 2017 Show

Old Outboards

Also on our "need" list is old outboard motors and you left us with lots of promises of donations in this area too. The plan in the B4F Program is that the kid’s first outing in the sea fleas will be with low horsepower motors (3-5hp) which shouldn't provide any high speed running - more like Bumper Boats. If they want speed they will have to earn it over time by displaying a changed worldview in the boat-shop and at school. For this reason we will need at least several sets of outboards from 3 to 10 hp plus spares.
